More than 250 delegates attended ScanSource Europe’s UK Partner Tour event at the legendary Villa Park, Birmingham recently.

Comprising a varied programme of education, entertainment and quality networking opportunities, this was the first time that ScanSource Europe and ScanSource Communications Europe had been present at the same event; incorporating vendors and resellers from both the Auto ID and telecoms sectors.

At this year’s event, a selection of best-of-breed ScanSource Europe ISVs and software partners were on hand to introduce attendees to their most innovative applications. Delegates had the chance to meet representatives from all the top brands in the Auto-ID and convergence industries as the vendors showcased their latest hardware and software. Attendees also had the chance to question the vendors about the solutions on display, as well as investigate potential market opportunities together.

The event’s keynote address was given by the well-respected inspirational business speaker, Richard Denny. Considered by some to be the most inspiring trainer in the UK, he not only motivated and entertained the assembled, but also provided a few easy pointers to lift their personal and business life to a higher level. Denny’s presentation was liberally illustrated with anecdotes, people stories and his own distinctive and infectious sense of humour.

The event closed with a special evening networking dinner, which included turns by two of the top names in English stand-up comedy – Justin Moorhouse and Tom Wrigglesworth. Manchester-based Moorhouse is one of the brightest stars currently working on the British comedy circuit. He is a talented comedian, writer and actor, as well as an award-winning radio presenter and a household name in his native North West. Tom Wrigglesworth is a fine stand-up who excels in seeing the funny side of everyday life. Both were endearing acts and closed a very successful business event on a lighthearted note.

Attendee Dave Mahoney of Sanderson RBS said of this year’s event: “We always make sure our diary is clear to attend these ScanSource events. This is an ideal opportunity to see what’s new as well as reminding you of what solutions are already established in the marketplace. These events get the balance just right. And, in general, whether we’re buying item A or a complex bundle, ScanSource always make it a simple process; which saves us time and money.”

Kees Spitters of Codeway also cited the networking opportunities as a highlight of the event, in addition to Richard Denny’s address. “It gave us the opportunity to meet with a range of vendors and ISVs all within one day, while the motivational talk was good at making one stop and think about strategies that could be put into action, to beneficial effect,” he said.

The Partner Tour will be stopping off at further locations on the continent after the summer.
